Self-Inquiry Meditation – Use this before your personal meditation practice.

Ocean, sky and horizon

This video is an excerpt from a Sunday Meditation and Inspiration service. During this meditation session, we consider many questions that help us to identify our true Self. Prior to considering those questions, Ryan asks us to reflect on who we think we are: our physical appearance, our habitual feelings, the things we like to do and the things we don’t, our relationships and our attachment to them.

Ryan then poses many questions that are designed to help us detach from the delusion that who we think we are is our true Self. There questions are as follows:

  • Who is it that created this character?
  • Who is it that created these ties to life, these attachments and aversions?
  • Who is it that thinks this creation is so special?
  • What am I without all of this content?
  • What am I if nothing that I think is so important is permanent or real? What’s left?
  • What is left after everything I think is so important passes away?
  • What is this that can see my false sense of self, my personality, my history, my past, thoughts of my future?

This is an important pre-meditation contemplation that helps us to experience our eternal nature as Infinite Consciousness. Maintain this realization as you begin your regular meditation practice.
